It turns out Silent Hills is actually worse than dead: It's now a slot machine. Konami announced that Silent Hill will be transformed into a 'for-wager slot experience' on its new slot cabinet. The game objective is for the player to make their way through ten levels by finding the key and bringing it to the locked door at the end of each level. Oct 12, 2019 Yahoo Finance reports that Konami Gaming, a casino-flavored subsidiary of Konami, is gearing up to unwrap, among other casino related tech, Silent Hill Escape, a 'for-wager slot experience.
After the Pachinko theme Metal Gear Solid 3, presented to the public in the course of 2016,Konami has announced a new project dedicated to the universe of slot machines.
This time, the IP involved is that of Silent Hill, a famous series video game in shades of horror, as it features inside various chapters. The new slot machines will be shown for the first time to the public in Las Vegas, between the 15th and the 17th of October, on the occasion of the Global Gaming Expo. Introducing Silent Hill the Escape, this is the name designated for the equipment, the executive vice president and COO of Konami Gaming Inc., Tom Jingoli, said: “The purpose of Konami is to provide operators exceptional entertainment to reach and engage today’s players and beyond. We are leveraging a combination of technology, talent, design and development of high level to offer a mix of new products at this year’s event […]”.

The President of Konami Europe, Masami Saso, has recently declared, in relation to the market of console games, to work on IP known at the global level. It is not now known if, among the latter may be one of the series of Silent Hill, and if the company has intention to return in the future, the saga of the videogame market.
Great news! Silent Hill is back! Bad news- it’s a slot machine. Konami has been moving further and further away from video games, and other than their PES and Yu-Gi-Oh games and the recent (not very good) Contra: Rogue Corps, their focus has mostly been on slot machines and pachinko stuff. In a press release, Konami’s Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer Tom Jingoli describes the the Silent Hill slot machine – called Silent Hill: Escape – as “a striking combination of sleek entertainment, premium packaging, and player comfort”, while also saying that it’s “a first glimpse at great things to come from Konami.”

From a financial perspective, Konami is more secure now than it’s ever been, so while this might make sense for them from a business perspective, fans of the company and their rich catalog of properties will be disappointed with the direction they’ve taken. I’m sure that this is the last thing anyone had in mind while thinking of a Silent Hill revival, especially after the cancelled Silent Hills. Sometimes, nothing is better than something.
